Alright, so it’s not really the Pacific Rim, but it’s as close as I’ve come so far in my travels. This is the lagoon outside of the Loews Royal Pacific Resort in Orlando, Florida. The whole resort has that Pacific feel and is isolated from the rest of the city by a thick forest of trees. The abandoned seaplane completes the illusion and adds to the isolated vibe.

Part of the Universal Studios group of partner hotels, the Loews Royal Pacific shares a waterway with the theme park, so you can just hop a boat and head to the Islands of Adventure or Universal Studios proper.

I went back and forth on the processing for this one, mainly because I thought my technique was a little too over-the-top (and not in the awesome 80’s Stallone way), toying initially with a more realistic (albeit totally over-contrasty version) to a pretty neat black and white, back to a more moody color version. This last iteration was using a lot less of a “hyper-real” effect than I usually go with, though it’s still pretty crazy.

It’s just so hard to reel myself in sometimes…
