Here’s a portion of my review of Tokina’s 11-16 mm f 2.8 AT-X 116 Pro DX Autofocus lens for Nikon DX-Format DSLRs that was recently posted on B&H Photo Video:
I had originally bought this for an upcoming trip to Copenhagen, but I can’t believe how much I’ve used it already. It’s a great lens for group shots and came in handy at a few weddings.
For my first non-Nikon lens, I couldn’t be happier. The Tokina has very sturdy construction and operates smoothly. Images are sharp, focus is fast, and color is spot-on.
Other reviewers have noted that it does pick up lens flares VERY easily from various light sources, and I would have to agree. You definitely don’t want to leave the lens hood at home.
I read a few reviews criticizing the lens cap, but I have had little problem with it fitting properly.
The only other downside is that it won’t autofocus on my new D3100, but apparently that’s a direct result of my inability to comprehend what I’m reading.
