I had seen a photo like this (albeit one much more masterfully crafted) a long time ago and was fascinated by the juxtaposition of clouds and sea with rows of boats sandwiched between and reflected in the water.
In that photo however, the water perfectly reflected the boats in such a way that you could flip it 180° and not be able to tell the difference.
Unfortunately for me, the waters in the bay off the coast of San Diego on the way to Seaport Village weren’t quite still enough to replicate that effect, but the setting sun behind me provided an interesting mood for the photo.
To me, seeing boats like this at dusk, all lined up and roped down, has always filled me with a sense of sadness for the lonely boats. At least they have each other, right? ; )
