Unconditional Surrender

Happy Friday! Here’s another one from San Diego. The statue by Seward Johnson is apparently one of a series of three (I think this is the largest, though) and is based on the iconic photo (or photos depending on who you ask) taken back in 1945.

I was lucky enough to catch this one right at sunset, though the differing horizons on the bottom third of the photo were frustrating me and kept me second-guessing myself on how to crop the photo. I’d also never really shot a huge statue before, but I was (again) lucky enough to get at least one good angle on it.

Okay, I just read about how this is (or was) being moved and replaced by a bronze version. Is this statue even still there?
